AFSU students participated in the environmental event in İhsaniye’s Döğer Town. Volunteers cleaned around Memeç Rocks and Emre Lake in the Phrygian Valley as part of the event organized for the World Cleanup Day. In the event attended by about 100 people, 50 bags of waste were collected by volunteer environmentalists in two hours.
Under the leadership of the movement called “Let’s Do It!” which started in Estonia in 2008 as the world’s largest civil garbage collection movement, volunteers of AFSU Living Environment Society also took part in the event, which was held simultaneously with 180 countries. Our Community President Student Mehmet Ali Aymaz, thanked Afyonkarahisar Municipality, Döğer Mayor Mehmet Demirel and Let’s Do It Afyonkarahisar Representative Mehmet Ali Dadak for supporting the event.
Expressing that it is important for them to be a part of a worldwide environmental event, Aymaz, President of AFSU Live Environment Society, said: “As AFSU students, we see it as our responsibility to volunteer at such events to raise awareness about environmental cleaning. I would like to thank to all the environmental volunteers, my fellow community members and the academic advisor of our community, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nazan Erenoğlu. We will continue to participate in such events and organize similar events as a community.”
