Saplings Planted for AFSU’s New Students on National Afforestation Day

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş, participated in the sapling planting activities held for the National Afforestation Day and for our students who joined the AFSU family in the 2021-2022 Academic Year. Governor Gökmen Çiçek, protocol members and citizens planted saplings at the event held at the Yolcatı Afforestation Field, while our students, our Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Adam Aslan and Prof. Dr. Ümit Dündar, and our academic and administrative staff brought the saplings together with the soil.

Noting that the consequences of global climate change have become an agenda item that affects everyone’s lives, our Rector Prof. Dr. Okumuş said, “We have to act to realize the ideal of an environmentally friendly and greener Turkey for both our generation and future generations.” Stating that in the field of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants created in the Zafer Health Complex, studies and production are carried out in the relevant fields, Prof. Dr. Okumuş noted that they approached the issue of afforestation with the spirit of national mobilization.

In the event held on the campus of our university with the organization of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, planting was carried out for a part of 2000 saplings of different species such as pine, almond and walnut, which were obtained from the Afyonkarahisar Forestry Management Directorate., AFSU students and club and community members Participating in the event voluntarily this academic year students also emphasized the importance of afforestation and said that they planted saplings for a greener environment.
