The International Relations Application and Research Center (AFSU-UİM), established within our university, acts as a bridge between our students and employees and the students and employees of universities abroad.
Working in cooperation with international research institutions and reputable universities to provide AFSU members with the opportunity to make academic, intellectual and cultural exchanges on a universal scale, AFSU-UIM offers global education opportunities that will teach our students to look at life from a completely different perspective.
For our questions about AFSU-UİM, Erasmus + Program Institutional Coordinator, AFSU Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biophysics, Dr. Lecturer Yonca Yahşi Çelen answered.
Could you give information about AFSU-UİM’s duties and responsibilities?
The Center for European Union Education and Youth Programs (National Agency), which is the relevant institution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate for EU Affairs (National Agency), has undertaken the tasks of basically communicating the EU’s education and youth programs in the country, coordinating the activities of participation in these programs, and conducting the necessary negotiations with the European Commission about program applications and signing implementation contracts.
AFSU-UİM whose coordinatorship is undetaken by its member AFSU Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Lecturer Murat Yeşil, is responsible for organizing the programs and projects carried out by the National Agency on behalf of our university. In order to fulfill this obligation, AFSU-UİM develops bilateral relations with higher education institutions in EU countries on the one hand, and with educational institutions in other countries on the other.
What are the activities carried out by AFSU-UİM so far?
Our center actively participates in Erasmus + and other academic projects and aims to significantly increase the share of our university from these programs. In line with this goal, first the temporary ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education – Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) and then the permanent ECHE were obtained in order to ensure mobility on the basis of students and staff.
Having successfully completed the projects of 2018 and 2019 period, AFSU-UİM obtained the grant support given by the National Agency in order to realize student and staff mobility, and in 2018, two students and two staff carried out lectures’ internship
What kinds of opportunities does Erasmus + Program offer to our students and employees?
Beginning to be implemented on January 1, 2014, the umbrella program Erasmus +, which includes support for different age groups and different target groups in the fields of education, youth and sports, provides learning opportunities for individuals within and / or outside the EU borders.
In this context, AFSU signed agreements with some universities in Macedonia and Bulgaria in the first place. Thanks to these agreements signed within the scope of Erasmus + Main Action 1 Learning Mobility of Individuals – Student and Personnel Mobility in Higher Education in Program Countries (KA103), students, faculty members and administrative staff had the opportunity to receive education and teach mutually.
Those who are exchange students should be more equipped for both social and professional business life; There are extremely attractive opportunities for our academicians and administrative staff to improve themselves by providing the opportunity to work for up to six weeks at a distinguished university or institution abroad. We share announcements and detailed explanations about these opportunities at http://uim.afsu.edu.tr/. As AFSU-UİM, we invite all our students and employees who want to get information about the activities we carry out to contact us directly.
