Our Rector Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş attended the meeting of “SME Hospital and the European Network Project” which is carried by Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) within the scope of Turkey-EU Business Grant Scheme. The meeting started with the opening speeches of the Governor of Afyonkarahisar, Mustafa Tutulmaz, Ambassador of Romania, Gabriel Șopanda, Trade Undersecretary of the Lithuanian Embassy, Vaida Stankeviciene and ATSO Chairman of the Board, Hüsnü Serteser and lecturer Murat Yeşil and Erasmus + Institutional Coordinator Dr. Lecturer Yonca Yahşi Çelen were also present.

Our Partners in the Project; Romania and Lithuania

Speaking at the meeting held at Akrones Hotel, Romanian Ambassador Gabriel Şopanda said “We are pleased with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s request to increase the trade volume between the two countries to 10 billion dollars. We have observed that the trade volume between our countries is rapidly increasing towards this goal. “

Pointing that there are more than 15 thousand companies with Turkish capital in Romania, Sopanda expressed increased interest in joint business development between Romania and Turkey and said “This proves a suitable environment to do business. We are ready to give the support we can to Turkish and Romanian companies to cooperate more and reach this goal.” ATSO President Hüsnü Serteser stated that they determined Sibiu Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture from Romania and Šiauliai Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Lithuania as foreign partners.

Family Businesses Have Difficulty in Growing

In his speech at the meeting, Governor Mustafa Tutulmaz said that this event, which can take the gains of entrepreneurs who make up the important income sources of Afyonkarahisar, is extremely important for our city. Governor Tutulmaz noted that in Afyonkarahisar, which makes almost all of its investments with SMEs, the experiences of current and future investors will gain as a result of this meeting and the new mechanism to be created will make a great contribution to the development of our province. Stating that the companies in Afyonkarahisar are formed by trial-and-error method, since they are generally family businesses, Governor Tutulmaz said that these companies have difficulties in growing and said, “This SME hospital will help us to look better and prepare better by treating such diseases from the past.”

“We are one of the proviences in which the unemployment is the least.”

Noting that there is a good dynamism in Afyonkarahisar, Governor Mustafa Tutulmaz continued his words as follows: “There is a nice dynamism in the field of investment and entrepreneurship. Our city has started to gain a significant amount of efficiency from this dynamism. Currently when we look at the unemployment, we are one of the cities in which the unemployment rate is the lowest in Turkey. According to the data I received at the Employment meeting held this week, it seems that we need around 1800 workers. This means our investors and new entrepreneurs are in an effort to create new business areas. I congratulate all our entrepreneurs. They are trying to be the honor of our Afyon and transform this potential into dynamism.

When it comes to potential, our city has an important investment potential, whether it be thermal, marble, taste or different areas of agriculture. We continue to increase this investment potential day by day.

Last week, with UNESCO registration, we have made significant gains by becoming one of the world’s numbered 36 provinces and 3 in our country. Our entrepreneurs who will invest here in the field of Gastronomy start with a plus value when they start to work. From now on, there will be less difficulties in the national and international marketing of any food product you will produce in the city of Gastronomy, perhaps not. We need to make good use of this opportunity. Likewise, we became a member of the European Historical Thermal Cities Association. Being a member of this network will increase our value in terms of attracting customers and using thermal in different areas. Investments to be made in the field of thermal and flavor will have better marketing opportunities.”

The meeting, where presentations of ATSO, Sibiu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Šiauliai Chambers of Commerce and Industry were made, ended with a question-and-answer session.
