Noting that our country has made a very strong progress in recent years and has become competitive with developed countries in the field of health, Prof. Dr. Okumuş noted that Turkey is at a good point in the field of health with its new and modern facilities, strong and well-trained personnel, and modern medical device parks.

Stating that besides these developments in health service delivery, another important change process has been experienced, Prof. Dr. Okumuş said that in addition to healing patients, an integrated approach that focuses on their human qualities and supports them spiritually has become a priority.

Stating that In this way, it has become an important duty to support patients and their relatives in terms of transportation, clothing, shelter, nutritional needs, and social and psychological support in addition to their health problems, Prof. Dr. Okumuş said, “We approach our patients with the awareness that they should be served because they are human, not because they have health problems.”

Prof. Dr. Okumuş continued his words as follows: “In addition to the successes our country has achieved in the field of health, the opening of such centers that put people first, shows that we have come to a strong and enviable position in the field of health.

However, what should be envied is our gracious and helpful Anatolian people, who make great sacrifices and contribute to the provision of such investments to the service of our patients. The Halaç family was instrumental in the opening of this meaningful center today.

The philanthropic businessman Yavuz Kocaşaban is instrumental in the construction of the Children’s Emergency Service rising right behind you. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to him.

As the AFSU family, we are constantly working to reach further and better by developing new projects, setting new goals, getting support not only from our state but also from our nation, while fighting the epidemic on the one hand.

In addition to the Palliative Care Center, Hospital Guesthouse, Pediatric Emergency Service and Pediatric Policlinics buildings, the classrooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the drug production facility; BY/BE and Phase studies laboratory and clinic project, which is an important stage for drug production, are just some of the issues we are working on.

In addition to these, the construction of Central Classrooms, Congress Center, Central Laboratory and faculty buildings with a closed area of 42,000 square meters; Some of our new intensive care beds, cardiology and cardiovascular surgery center, new operating rooms and renovation of the old operating rooms have been completed and some of them have come to the stage of completion.

Prof. Dr. Okumuş: “Every work we do together with the love of homeland and service bears good fruits.”

We are aware that we have shortcomings and we have features that we need to improve. I want you to know that we are making serious efforts on these issues as well.

We are expanding the capacity of our university by opening new programs such as “Oral and Dental Health” and “Medical and Aromatic Plants”.

At this point, we are also signing many joint projects with our businessmen and academics. Our dear Governor, deputies, mayor, businessmen, philanthropists, citizens and the press do not spare their support in all these efforts. As a result, beautiful works and services emerge. Every work we do together with the love of homeland and service bears good fruits.

Like the Ömer-Zilif Halaç Patient Care and Rehabilitation Center that brought us together today. I believe that this facility, which will serve the patients who are treated in AFSU hospitals, will also meet an important need with the guesthouse, which will be a valuable option for our citizens with low income.

Rising on a total area of 4700 m², our center has 46 rooms and a capacity that can be increased up to 90 beds. It has four floors except the basement and the entrance. The ground floor is planned to meet the food and basic needs of those who will benefit from the facility. The first and second floors will be used as palliative care centers and will serve an extremely important purpose for our patients who require long-term care. The third and fourth floors will be used as guesthouses.

Here, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Özcan Halaç once again. I think that his understanding and support for the two floors to be a palliative care center is very important during the decision stage regarding the construction of the facility.

It is important that this facility will also provide palliative care services besides the guesthouse, and I think it has become one of the most modern and equipped care centers in our country.

Another feature of this facility is that it can be transformed into intensive care when needed, as in the current pandemic process. Mr. Özcan also accepted our additional installation requests for this, and a facility to be proud of has emerged.

Our center has been furnished by our university with the comfort of a 4-5 star hotel without any exaggeration, and there are all kinds of furnishings in our rooms to meet the basic needs of a patient or a relative.

In addition, Suspended Clothes service will be provided in our center. Thus, those in need will be able to receive the dress they wish without paying.

After all, this magnificent facility, with its building and its furnishings and equipment, is actually a concrete structure. Reaching this center to its true identity and purpose in terms of health and social support will only be possible if it is run correctly and in accordance with its purpose, with its personnel and managers. Therefore, a serious responsibility has been placed on our shoulders. This facility must be operated uninterruptedly and completely. We are aware of our duty and responsibility. I promise that we will do our best in line with the continued support of the Halaç family and the aims of our university, and I pray that my Lord will not let us down.

In the person of Mr. Özcan Halaç, I would like to thank the benevolent Halaç family and the managers of the Unity Foundation, who brought this valuable center, which is a charity-i concubine, to our people, which will enable AFSU to provide more citizens with better conditions and humane health care. To Mehmet Mühsürler, President of Afyonkarahisar Commodity Exchange, who supported the allocation of the land to our university; to Veysel Eroğlu, our esteemed Governor, and to our esteemed Governor Gökmen Çiçek, who has always supported us from the very beginning; I would like to express my gratitude to our previous Governor, Mustafa Tutulmaz, to our Honorable Mayor, to all the officials and staff who contributed to the creation of this work. Good luck to all our citizens.”

Fazlı Halaç: “From now on, we will continue to serve Afyonkarahisar as much as we can.”

Fazlı Halaç, who was invited to the podium on behalf of the Benevolent Halaç Family, stated that they are very honored and happy to bring a facility named after his deceased mother and father to their hometown, and said, “From now on, we will continue to serve Afyonkarahisar as much as we can.” said. In his speech, Mehmet Alacacı, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Birlik Foundation, thanked the Halaç family for bringing many investments across Turkey to our country.

Governor Çiçek: “I’m glad you’re from Afyonkarahisar.”

After the speeches of Birlik Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mehmet Alacacı and  General Manager of Disabled and Elderly Services of the Ministry of Family and Social Services Orhan Koç, Governor Gökmen Çiçek was presented to the podium.

In his speech, Governor Gökmen Çiçek, noting that the Center was opened in less than a year, said: “I would like to thank the Halaç family for bringing such a center to our city.

In an interview with the Halaç family, they said that they would make an investment in Afyonkarahisar every year. Not even a year later, the investments are gone. I am glad to say to the Halaç family that you are from Afyonkarahisar. I would like to say to Mr. Özcan that I am glad that you are with Başak Hanım, who is such a benevolent person.I would like to thank Mr. Fazlı and Ms. Macide for their philanthropy and for raising such benevolent children. Afyonkarahisar University of Health Sciences comes to a considerable place in Turkey every year. I wish this investment to be beneficial and auspicious for both our university, our city and the health community.”

Iraq Special Representative of the President and Afyonkarahisar Deputy Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu, on the other hand, said in his speech that they promised President Erdogan to make Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University the most popular university in Turkey, and they kept this promise with the successes achieved in a short time. Prof. Dr. Eroğlu stated that he believes Afyonkarahisar, which has developed with investments and has become a center of attraction in health tourism, will come to a much further point with the investments of the state and the interest of philanthropists.

After their speeches, prayers were made in company with Afyonkarahisar Provincial Mufti Sinan Kazancı, and after the opening ribbon was cut, the members of the protocol examined the center.
