AFSU participated in the “Turkey-China Culture and Business Development Forum on the 50th Anniversary of Turkey-China Diplomatic Relations”.
In the forum organized by the Turkey-China Business Development and Support Association and the China Industry and Businessmen Association at the Ankara Congresium Convention and Exhibition Center, established under the leadership of AFSU Technology Transfer Office Inc., Aflora, Afyonkarahisar Medical and Aromatic Plants Industry and Trade Inc. booth opened.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş, Afyonkarahisar Governor Gökmen Çiçek, Afyonkarahisar Deputy Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu, Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek and Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Hüsnü Serteser visited the AFSU stand at the event, which was attended by institutions and companies from sectors such as food, mining, technology, tourism and health.
Prof. Dr. Eroğlu, in his speech at the AFSU booth, stated that although the world trade capacity of medicinal plants is 115 billion dollars, Turkey can only benefit from this capacity of 700-800 million dollars.
Noting that the cooperation between the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Center and AFSU-TAB Center, established in Afyonkarahisar for the first time in Turkey, is of great importance in the studies to be carried out to contribute to the trade volume of our country’s endemic medicinal plant wealth, Prof. Dr. Eroğlu said that large-scale studies have started that will carry Afyonkarahisar to a central position in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants in the future.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Okumuş gave the good news that the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program will accept its first students within the body of AFSU Atatürk Health Services Vocational School this year. Stating that AFSU will continue to make important moves in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants, Prof. Dr. Okumuş noted that a great national organization will be held in the 6th Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Workshop, which will be held under the leadership of AFSU on September 16-17, 2021.
Stating that all of the Aflora branded products at the AFSU stand are grown in accordance with the principles of sustainable agriculture, Prof. Dr. Okumuş pointed out that the production was carried out under the supervision of an expert team.
Introducing the products obtained from the Amarant plant, which was produced for the first time in our province by a businessman operating in Afyonkarahisar, Prof. Dr. Okumuş also gave information about the benefits of this plant for human health and its potential to be used as a raw material in different industries.
