A two-day “Caring Behaviors Development Course” was organized by AFSU Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department in cooperation with Akdeniz University Nursing Practice and Research Center.
Prof. Dr. Tolga Ertekin (Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences) made the opening speech of the event which took place in the Blue Hall, and academicians, clinician nurses and nursing students attended the event.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ertekin stated that the biggest responsibility of the nursing profession is to respond to the expectations and care needs of the society and to integrate science and art in the practice of nursing profession. Head of Nursing Department, Assoc. Prof. Öznur Gürlek Kısacık pointed out the importance of investing in nursing, empowering and supporting nurses in order to structure today’s and future health systems to meet the needs of the society and to provide quality care services.
After the speeches, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Kol (Head of the Department of Nursing Fundamentals, Faculty of Nursing at Akdeniz University) made a presentation on the Human Dimension and Conceptual Framework of the Concept of Care, and Assoc. Prof. İlkay Boz, a lecturer from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing of the same faculty, on Care Awareness and Care Behaviors.
On the second day of the course, video examples were shown as well as scenario-based standardized patient simulation which aims to analyze the discovery of care behaviors in moments of care. The course ended with a Role Play in which the participants were included, followed by a debriefing method in which the care behaviors were evaluated.
