Our University “TSIF: Tumor and Respiratory Monitoring Phantom Team”, of which Faculty Member Taha Erdoğan is a member, won the first place in Turkey at TEKNOFEST Black Sea Region. Congratulating Dr. Erdoğan, our Rector Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş said that AFSU’s corporate vision has started to reap the fruits of its success in different fields.
Designed by AFSU Department of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Taha Erdoğan “TSIF”, qualified to participate in the finals by being ranked 25th among 171 teams selected among 9,386 applications in the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival TEKNOFEST Technology for the Benefit of Humanity Category, Health and First Aid Category.“TSIF”, which was deemed worthy of the “BEST PERFORMANCE” and “PRESENTATION FIRST” awards at TEKNOFEST Rize, became the “FIRST in Turkey” by eliminating its competitors from many national and international universities in the grand final at TEKNOFEST Black Sea Region in Samsun.
Receiving his award from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the ceremony held at Samsun Çarşamba Airport, Dr. Taha Erdoğan also took a souvenir photo with the gold medal presented by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Okumuş said that TEKNOFEST is an extremely valuable and inspiring event for our country to make a breakthrough in the field of technology.
Drawing attention to the importance of the university’s academic staff on the podium in such competitions in terms of the development strategy and long-term goals of AFSU, Prof. Dr. Okumuş said, “TEKNOFEST, the first and only festival of Turkey, organized by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, aiming to develop national technologies, has now become an international brand.
We test the real-life counterparts of the goals we set for our university with the successes we have achieved in different scientific platforms. Dr. Our teacher Taha Erdoğan, as a member of a young university in his 4th year with his success, has made us proud by putting AFSU’s name ahead of many well-established universities. I congratulate him and wish him continued success.”

In addition, I am also grateful to our Rector Nurullah Okumuş and the AFSU family, who did not spare his support during the preparation and competition process. ”
TSIF was highly appreciated in the competition because it is a completely patient-specific sensitive tool developed to investigate the effect of tumor movement in the lung and to test the reliability of dosimetric quality, and in addition to all these, it is a unique study in the literature and in the world.
