Atabay Kimya Executive Board Member Responsible for R&D and Innovation Doğan Taşkent, who came to Afyonkarahisar as the guest of AFSÜ Pharmacy Club (AFSÜEK), gave a seminar on “Industrial Pharmacy in Turkey”. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Nurullah Okumuş faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy and our students attended the event held in the Blue Hall.
AFSÜEK Education Director Yeter Çağla Tora who is a 3rd year student at AFSÜ Faculty of Pharmacy and who attended the 44th EPSA (European Pharmacy Students Association) Congress in Slovenia made a presentation before the seminar. Tora shared her/his experiences at the congress s/he attended with our other students. Tora, who attended the congress with our other students İlayda Nur Kütük and Ömer Faruk Tekin, thanked our Rector Prof. Dr. Okumuş, AFSU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. Cengiz Sarıkürkcü, AFSÜEK Advisor Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuba Taşkan and Atabay Kimya for supporting their travels.
After Asst. Prof. Dr. Taşkan gave a speech about the introduction of AFSÜEK, Our Rector Prof Dr. Okumuş made a greeting speech. Dr. Okumuş stated that, as AFSÜ, they have chosen targets for themselves in the fields of medicine, medicinal aromatic plants, thermal health and health services. Dr. Okumuş stated that they will continue to support the activities to be carried out by the Faculty of Pharmacy in this direction. Prof. Dr. Okumuş pointed out that the health and food sectors, especially the defence industry and pharmaceutical production, determine the global economy and politics and underlined that, for this reason, pharmacy students should have knowledge and experience in all stages of drug production.
Doğan Taşkent started his seminar by giving basic information about the pharmaceutical industry. Taşkent talked about our country’s position in the world in pharmaceutical production, the processes from development to production and marketing of drugs, and the critical importance of the pharmacy profession in the stages of the drug until it reaches the patient. Taşkent gave detailed explanations to our students about the fields they can work in after graduation and noted that the industry is always open to talented and visionary pharmacy faculty graduates.
After the question and answer session, our Rector Prof. Dr. Okumuş presented a certificate of appreciation to Taşkent and a souvenir photo was taken with all participants. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Okumuş also visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy together with Taşkent.
Cooperation Protocol Signed with Atabay İlaç
A university-industry cooperation protocol was signed between AFSU and Atabay İlaç. Within the scope of the protocol, cooperation between institutions to coordinate research and development activities carried out in the field of basic and applied sciences and to obtain production-oriented results by combining similar studies that proceed independently of each other; thus, the services to be produced are aimed to be of high quality, effective, efficient and sustainable.
