AFSU Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Taştekin’s project titled “Development of Attitude Scale for Breast Cancer Prevention” was accepted to the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) 3501 Career Development Programme.
The project, in which Assist. Prof. Dr. Selda Mert from Ahi Evran University Department of Nursing is the executive, Assist. Prof. Dr. Özlem Kersu from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Department of Nursing and Prof. Dr. Canan Baydemir from Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine are the researchers, aims to develop an attitude scale that determines the cognitive, affective and behavioural components of women’s attitudes towards breast cancer prevention.
The attitude scale, the validity and reliability of which will be evaluated within the scope of the project, is aimed to be used by health professionals to evaluate women’s attitudes towards breast cancer prevention. The project is expected to increase women’s awareness of breast cancer, encourage their participation in breast cancer screening practices and thus contribute to the early detection of breast cancer.
The 3501 Programme, which encourages the work of PhD scientists by providing project support, is a programme that aims both to enable young scientists to continue their careers as researchers and educators in the best way possible, and to improve our scientific level and increase the role of science in the development of the country.
