New students of Faculty of Pharmacy took their first steps into the profession at the 2023-2024 Academic Year White Coat Wearing Ceremony. Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ümit Dündar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Cengiz Sarıkürkcü, President of Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Pharmacists Ecz. Alper Pehlivanlı, faculty deans, school principals, academicians, students and their families attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, which started after a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Sarıkürkcü made a speech. He congratulated our new students for joining the AFSU Faculty of Pharmacy family, which has a well-equipped infrastructure with 29 competent academic and 5 experienced administrative staff and a warm family environment where approximately 350 students receive education. He emphasized that the pharmacy profession requires empathy, respect and care and said that the white coat represents not only knowledge but also the responsibility of our students towards humanity.
He expressed his belief that the members of AFSU will carry the white coat properly, fulfill their responsibilities selflessly and take part in the health community as blessed heroes, and wished our students a successful education life.
In his speech, Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Pharmacists President Ecz. Pehlivanlı stated that the pharmacy profession was an important and sacred profession and that the white coat was a symbol of honesty, nobility, purity, modesty, responsibility and serving all people. Congratulating our students who took their first steps into the profession with the white coat wearing ceremony, Ecz. Pehlivanlı said that they would provide all the support they could as the Chamber of Pharmacists and wished our students success in their education and careers.
Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ümit Dündar, who emphasized the importance of the pharmacy profession in terms of the health system in his speech, drew attention to the privileged position of AFSU Faculty of Pharmacy. Prof. Dr. Dündar emphasized the importance of students learning a foreign language and following the current scientific literature to increase their professional competence during their five-year academic life in order to become pharmacists who make a difference in their professions and congratulated our students for being a member of a profession in direct contact with the public as health consultants.
In the programme, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Dündar, Dean Prof. Dr. Sarıkürkcü and Pharmacist Chamber President Ecz. Pehlivanlı presented gifts to Nurettin Eren Gezen, Mehmet Sütsatar and Mustafa Koçak, who were placed in the first three places in AFSU Faculty of Pharmacy, and they were dressed in white coats. The ceremony, which continued with the deans, school directors and academicians putting on the coats of the pharmacist candidates, ended with a photo shoot.
