Numerous events were organized at our university during the week encompassing International Women’s Day. Guests and participants in the events, coordinated by the AFSU Coordination Committee for Combating Violence Against Women, expressed their determination to fight against all forms of discrimination that exclude women.

Dr. Timuçin Aktan, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Experimental Psychology at the AKU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, delivered a seminar titled “Overlooked Sexism.” In his speech, Dr. Aktan highlighted that negative attitudes towards women have become more covert with the spread of egalitarian attitudes in society. He discussed the concepts of “hostile sexism” and “benevolent sexism” within the framework of stereotypes and prejudices.
