Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University (AFSU), separated from Afyon Kocatepe University, was founded as a health-themed University on May 18, 2018 in order to contribute to the healthcare service of our country, to conduct scientific studies in the field of health and to contribute to the production of health technology and medicine by training qualified healthcare personnel. In this regard, AFSU is one of the rare institutions with deep-rooted faculties as a young university.
AFSU is a health-themed university with four faculties, three vocational schools and a postgraduate education institute in which future physicians, dentists, specialist physicians, specialist dentists and other health professionals are trained.
AFSU is in a geographically advantageous location among health-themed universities. The city of Afyonkarahisar, where our campus is located, is situated at the crossroad in the middle of Western Anatolia and have important potential for geothermal resources, transportation facilities, natural flora and accommodation facilities. Afyonkarahisar takes the first place in Turkey with over 25,000 bed capacity, over 170 accommodation facilities and up to 1 million tourist numbers in a year in terms of alternative tourism diversity.
At AFSU Health Research and Application Center, treatment methods for human health are applied in the light of current scientific data. In addition, in our GETAT Center, traditional and complementary medicine practices, which are as old as human history, are carried out.
There are thermal treatment and rehabilitation pools for therapeutic purposes at AFSU Health Practice and Research Center. Spa treatments, which have been traditionally applied for centuries, are applied scientifically in the presence of faculty members, physiotherapists and physical therapy technicians. Paralyzed patients, patients who have undergone orthopedic surgery and patients requiring intensive rehabilitation benefit from the therapeutic effects of thermal waters.
AFSU Faculty of Health Sciences, physiotherapy and rehabilitation department and Atatürk Health Vocational School physiotherapy department students receive training and internship on spa treatments. The training of senior care technicians, who have an important role in increasing the quality of service that will be provided in thermal health tourism and senior care centers with accommodation, is provided by our University.
AFSU Healthcare Practice and Research Center experts also offer professional healthcare services to trauma patients, injured people, cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery and orthopedics cases after traffic accidents that are frequently encountered because Afyonkarahisar is located at the crossroads in Western Anatolia.
AFSU provides 3rd level health services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in Afyonkarahisar, which has the highest population after metropolitan cities.
