Prof. Dr. Adem ASLAN

He was born in 1971 in Kösbucağı Village, Erdemli District, Mersin Province. He graduated from İçel Hacı Sabancı High School in 1988. He graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. Between 1995 and 1998, he worked as a general practitioner in Hakkari, Karaman, and Mersin. In 1998, he began his neurosurgery specialization training at Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery. In 2000, he completed his short-term military service at the 108th Artillery Regiment in Malazgirt, Muş. He completed his neurosurgery specialization training on June 30, 2004. Between September 2004 and January 2005, he worked as a Neurosurgeon at Nevşehir SSK Hospital.

He started working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Medicine on January 25, 2005. In 2009, he received the Prof. Dr. Mahir Tevruz Scientific Research Award from the Turkish Neurosurgery Association. In 2010, he served as a clinical observer for 3 months in the Department of Neurosurgery at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Adem Aslan, who received the title of Associate Professor in 2011 and Professor in 2016, primarily focuses on traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. He has a total of 162 scientific publications at national and international levels. He currently works as a faculty member in the Department of Neurosurgery at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Faculty of Medicine. He is a member of the Turkish Neurosurgery Association, the European Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS), and the Society of Neurosurgical Systems.

He has held positions as the Director of Afyon Kocatepe University School of Health Sciences, Acting Dean of Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Medicine, Chief Physician of Afyon Kocatepe University Training and Research Hospital, and Coordinator of the Interuniversity Council and the Medical-Health Sciences Education Council.

While serving as the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Faculty of Medicine, Vice Rector, and AFSÜ Interuniversity Council Representative, he was appointed as the Rector of Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University by the President of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, effective September 5, 2025.

Professor Dr. Aslan is married, has four children, and speaks English.
